  1. Of course I love your beautiful sweater. I think you have worn it in the past on a previous video. I believe it is Autumn’s End by Alana Dakos. I wonder what wool yours is knitted in. It looks a little heavier than the recommended wool and I love how it looks. Thanks, Debbie from Cape Elizabeth

    • Hi Debbie, aw…thanks! It is the Autumn’s End by Alana Dakos! My friend Emily of Fibre Town knit it out of her hands-on Finn. I like the structure the chunky singles give it. Fond wishes for 2021

  2. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life of the North Woods. Always love to see it. Wishing you & Rob a very Happy Holiday and a Happy & Healthy New Year!!

  3. the whole podcast was such a joy…those molded cookies are so fun. I do love Shisha mirrors. Had done a lot of things with them in the past and had forgotten about them, thanks for the reminder. A friend and I were talking and Cannot believe the words taken from the dictionary… Happy New year to you and yours.

  4. So nice to “connect “ with you as I watched this just now. It was fun to see all your activities at the beginning of this video. You have such interesting projects going. I love your Jay sweater…especially your color choices. I may have to knit one, too!

    Enjoy this holiday season.

  5. What fun to be able to ice skate right outside your own door! I’m still trying to decide on my Lost Words project. And I’m really hoping the retreats will be able to take place this year! Hope you and Rob are having a lovely Christmas season. Hugs, Sarah!

    • HI Lisa, I am so thrilled you’ll be joining the Lost Words MAL! And as for retreats, fingers crossed…all the same you’d still want to consider the Allagash as a great paddle trip up here. We had a lovely Christmas and are now settling in to the camp for a long winter’s nap! Hugs to you and fond wishes for the new year.

  6. Hmmm just watched most of Nicole’s latest Gentle Knitter podcast and stopped when she mentioned the Lost Words MAL. There is a kind of beauty in saying a gentle goodbye to this last year and starting the new year with thoughts of helping to save one of these lost words, which… are so beautiful and so very connected to that which gives us life, Mother Earth. Bit dramatic to put it that way, but …really? Fern? Bluebell? Wren? Bramble? Honestly, I do often feel that our modern ways are separating us more and more from nature and the reality of life on this planet, and our effects upon it… this is like finding that an illness has spread, striking the heart of our language, our means of expressing our thoughts, values… I obviously have a very strong reaction to this. So, yes. I am in. Not sure how to make the time for it, as I do have quite a project list this spring, but yes, I am in. One way or another.

    • Bring on the nature spirit! I love it. I am looking forward to seeing you interpret this project so be sure to keep me posted on your process. I’ve been in the outdoor and agricultural education field for a long time and I agree, that this separation from nature is having a significant impact. Thank you for taking the time to share such poignant thoughts. Sarah

  7. Loved that spinning mould for your cookies! Still trying to figure out something to do for the Lost Words. I did get the book and have listened to the Audible. Thanks so much for sharing – am going to pass it along to my young nephews when I’m done with it. Lots of stitching on my end these days, but seeing you hold up your Hillesvag (now you know I have to tease you because I was there when you were stuffing bags and bags of it at the shop in Trondheim – you needed MORE?!!! ha! Totally teasing here, and do understand the need for more!), makes me want grab mine and start knitting…all the best to you, Sarah! Wish we could sit and knit for a while together…Rachel

    • Haha! I have such fond memories of liberating myself at that store when I saw that wall of yarn! I was like I could die tomorrow! Must have this! It is lovely to hear from you and I wish we could sit and knit too! I am enjoying seeing all your stitching. I wonder if you’ll stitch or knit for the Lost Words…hmmmm?

  8. Regarding Waffles, I have a knitted bear called Dorothy that a great aunt knit me many many years ago. She’s become rather flopsy and the elastic has gone in her knickers, but she is so cherished and everytime I see her I am filled with memories of love for auntie Dora xx
